RDA demolishes illegal structures, seals commercial building in Abad Housing Scheme
RAWALPINDI, Oct 06 (APP): On the directions of the Commissioner, Rawalpindi Division, and the Director General, Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), Salman Ghani, the RDA Enforcement Squad conducted an operation against illegal construction, encroachments, and violations of the approved Layout Plan (LOP) in Abad Cooperative Housing Scheme.
During the operation, curbstones and a gate installed at the RDA-owned Community Centre were demolished, while shops constructed on green strips in violation of the approved LOP were also removed.
An illegal commercial building under construction on a residential plot was sealed during the operation.
Ghani said violations of approved layouts, encroachments on green areas and unauthorised commercial activities would not be tolerated. He directed property owners and developers to comply with approved plans, building regulations and other applicable laws to avoid legal action.
A comprehensive survey was also ordered to determine applicable fees for the approval of illegal buildings, commercialisation, supplementary maps and plans of structures. Necessary action should be taken for regularisation of illegal residential-cum-commercial buildings wherever permissible under the applicable laws and regulations, he directed.
The operation was led by Enforcement In-charge Malik Ghazanfar. Assistant Director Planning Lutaf Ullah, Assistant Director Building Control Ahmad Hassan, Assistant Director MP&TE Hamza Saleem, Scheme Superintendent Muhammad Tariq, Building Surveyor Amir Mehmood and other enforcement officials participated in the operation.
