Rain lashes city, WASA keeps drainage network on high alert
FAISALABAD, Oct 07 (APP):Intermittent rain brought pleasant weather to Faisalabad on Wednesday morning. To prevent water from flooding the streets, the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) quickly sent out its workers and water-pumping machines.
According to a spokesman, Madina Town got the most rain with 17 millimeters. Gulshan-e-Iqbal Colony received 15mm, Dogar Basti 13mm, Ghulam Muhammadabad 12mm, Jail Road 9mm, and Gulistan Colony 8mm.
WASA had already prepared for the rain after checking the weather forecast. All workers were told to stay on high alert to fix any water clogging right away.
WASA Managing Director Engineer Saqib Raza ordered all staff to be at their duty points before the rain started. He told them to run all water disposal stations at full speed so that rainwater would not pile up on big roads and low areas.
WASA teams are still checking different parts of the city to make sure the water drains away quickly and easily.
