Pakistan clinch squash silver at Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya
ISLAMABAD, Oct 02 (APP):Pakistan secured the silver medal in the men’s team squash event at the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 after going down 2-0 to Malaysia in the gold medal match on Friday.
Pakistan fought hard against a strong Malaysian side, but Malaysia prevailed in both matches to claim the gold medal.
In the opening match, Pakistan’s Nasir Iqbal put up a determined fight against Ameeshenraj Chandaran but lost 3-1 after a 41-minute battle. Nasir won the opening game 11-8, but Chandaran responded strongly to take the next three games 11-3, 11-6 and 11-4.
The second match saw another closely contested encounter as Pakistan’s Noor Zaman faced Malaysia’s Eain Yow Ng. Noor won the second and third games 11-6 and 11-7 after losing the opening game 8-11. However, Eain Yow fought back to win the fourth game 11-4 and sealed the match 11-5 in the fifth after a 53-minute contest.
Despite the defeat in the final, Pakistan produced an impressive campaign in squash at the Games, returning home with three medals, one silver and two bronze.
Pakistan had earlier secured two bronze medals in the men’s individual event, while the men’s team added the silver medal to complete the country’s medal tally in squash.
