JazzWorld hosts Cybersecurity seminar to advance digital security, resilience in Pakistan
ISLAMABAD, Oct 15 (APP): As Pakistan expands its digital infrastructure and adoption of next-generation technologies, JazzWorld, Pakistan’s leading digital platform company, organized a cybersecurity awareness seminar in collaboration with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), bringing together industry and government stakeholders to examine emerging cyber threats and discuss measures to safeguard mobile networks, digital services and critical infrastructure.
The cybersecurity awareness seminar examined the implications of 5G deployment, embedded SIMs (e-SIMs) and artificial intelligence (AI) for network security and consumer protection, highlighting the need for coordinated industry efforts to address evolving threats. Discussions focused on strengthening technical safeguards, improving organizational preparedness and raising awareness of cyber risks as more aspects of everyday life move online.
Syed Zaheer Mehdi, Group Chief Corporate and Regulatory Affairs at JazzWorld, said: “Cybersecurity is fundamental to building trust in Pakistan’s digital future. As digital services become an increasingly important part of everyday life, protecting users, data and critical infrastructure require constant vigilance and collective action. At JazzWorld, we are committed to strengthening digital security through resilient infrastructure, advanced capabilities and close collaboration with regulators and industry partners.”
A key focus was the security of next-generation mobile networks, where 5G is expected to support increasingly sophisticated applications and connected services. Participants discussed the importance of security measures such as network segmentation, access controls, firewalls and secure interfaces to reduce vulnerabilities, protect network infrastructure and maintain service reliability.
The seminar also examined risks associated with the growing adoption of e-SIMs, particularly the need for robust digital onboarding, reliable identity verification and safeguards against SIM-related fraud and social engineering. As consumers increasingly rely on mobile connectivity for digital transactions and essential services, protecting personal information and preventing identity-based fraud remain important priorities for the industry.
AI emerged as another area requiring attention, with discussions covering its dual role in cybersecurity. While AI-powered tools can improve threat detection and response, they can also be exploited to develop more sophisticated attacks. Participants highlighted the importance of combining technological safeguards with employee awareness, responsible use of AI and stronger organizational readiness.
The discussions underscored the need for sustained cooperation among telecom operators, regulators and technology partners to exchange knowledge, strengthen security practices and respond to emerging cyber threats. Through the initiative, JazzWorld reaffirmed its focus on cybersecurity awareness, secure digital services and resilient network infrastructure as part of the broader effort to build a safer and more trusted digital ecosystem in Pakistan.
