Muqam announces relief for Dir school collapse victims
ISLAMABAD, Oct 16 (APP): Federal Minister Engineer Amir Muqam on Friday announced doubling the compensation for victims of the private school collapse in Dir Colony and pledged to establish a government school in the area.
During his visit to the site, Muqam who is also President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, expressed grief over the loss of precious lives and offered Fateha for the departed souls.
He conveyed condolences to the bereaved families on his own behalf and on behalf of PML-N leader Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.
He termed the incident tragic and regretted that such a large building had been constructed on girders without proper oversight, said a press released issued here.
He said the prime minister had ordered an inquiry into the incident, adding that the investigation should be completed at the earliest to identify those responsible for approving the construction and bring them to justice.
Muqam said the compensation announced earlier by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor would be doubled to provide relief to the affected families.
He said residents had also highlighted various issues including the absence of a government school, and announced the establishment of a government school in Dir Colony.
He assured the residents that other local issues would also be addressed and their sense of deprivation would be removed.
