PFA fines six food outlets Rs 98,000

262 food points penalized for hygiene violations in Khanewal during September
GUJRAT, Oct 19 (APP):The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Sunday imposed fines totaling Rs 98,000 on six food outlets and issued 30 improvement notices during 54 inspections conducted across the district to ensure food safety and hygiene standards.
According to a spokesperson, the inspection drives were carried out under the directions of Deputy District Officer Sadia Rafat. During the operations, food safety teams thoroughly inspected various eateries, shops, and production units to monitor compliance with PFA rules.
Apart from issuing warning notices over hygiene violations, the inspecting teams also discarded one kilogram of insect-infested sweets on the spot to prevent the sale and consumption of unsafe, substandard food items.
The PFA official reiterated that strict enforcement operations will continue across the district to protect public health and ensure the provision of safe, hygienic food to consumers.
