AJK President hails OIC resolution on Kashmir, praises Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts

AJK President, minister discuss measures to improve education standards
MIRPUR, Oct 21 (APP):Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) President Dr Muhammad Najeeb Naqi Khan on Wednesday welcomed a resolution adopted by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers in Baghdad, Iraq, calling for a final settlement of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.
In a special statement, the AJK president commended Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to secure international support for the Kashmir cause and expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. He said Pakistan’s consistent efforts to highlight the dispute at international forums and advocate the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination were commendable.
Dr Naqi further expressed that the Jammu and Kashmir dispute remained on the UN agenda and required a just and lasting settlement in line with relevant Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. He also urged the international community to play an effective role in ensuring the implementation of these resolutions, adding that the OIC’s stance reflected the Muslim world’s solidarity with the Kashmiri people in their decades-long struggle for self-determination.
Expressing hope that OIC member states would intensify efforts to raise the issue at international forums and press India to take practical steps towards its resolution, the AJK president reaffirmed the strong bond of solidarity between the people of Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. He expressed confidence that the Kashmiri people would ultimately achieve their goal of securing the accession of the entire state of Jammu and Kashmir to Pakistan.
