HEC cautions citizens against fraudsters using its name
LAHORE, Oct 03 (APP):The Higher Education Commission (HEC) on Saturday issued a public advisory cautioning citizens against fraudulent activities being carried out in its name.
According to the HEC,fraudsters have been attempting to extract money from citizens through fake telephone calls by offering services, including degree attestation and equivalence.
The commission said it had received numerous complaints in this regard.
The HEC advised citizens not to share personal information,PIN codes or passwords with anyone, clarifying that it had not authorized any representative to contact the public directly.
It further clarified that the commission neither provides services nor seeks money,PIN codes or passwords through telephone calls.
Citizens have been advised to immediately report any suspicious or fraudulent calls to the relevant telecom operator’s helpline or the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
