CDA seals 58 buildings, targets 377 structures along Islamabad Expressway over violations
ISLAMABAD, Oct 22 (APP):The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has sealed 58 buildings and identified 377 structures, including 281 commercial buildings, for legal action as part of an enforcement drive against violations along the Islamabad Expressway.
The operation has so far generated recoveries of Rs250.59 million, while a further amount of around Rs3 billion remains payable under the relevant rules and regulations, according to the CDA.
Of the structures identified for action, 124 between Sohan and Khanna Bridge have been marked for demolition, the authority said.
CDA Chairman Sohail Ashraf reviewed the progress of the Islamabad Expressway Service Road East project during a visit on Thursday and directed the relevant officials to complete the scheme within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining construction quality and adhering to the approved design.
He was also briefed on action against illegal constructions, unauthorised commercial activities and violations of building control regulations along the expressway.
The chairman directed the concerned departments to ensure uniform enforcement of building control laws, land-use regulations and mandatory fire safety requirements.
He stressed that construction quality should not be compromised in the completion of development projects, saying timely execution and adherence to approved standards were essential for improving the capital’s infrastructure.
