HEC completes ERP upgrade to SAP S/4HANA

HEC completes ERP upgrade to SAP S/4HANA
ISLAMABAD, Oct 26 (APP):HEC Pakistan, under the World Bank-funded Higher Education Development in Pakistan (HEDP) Project, has successfully upgraded its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system from SAP ECC 6.0 to SAP S/4HANA.
Operational since October 2025, the upgraded platform marks a major milestone in modernising institutional operations, strengthening financial management, and advancing technology-enabled governance.
Executive Director HEC, Dr. Zia Ul Haq, distributed certificates and emphasized technology-driven modernisation, paperless workflows, expanded e-services, data-driven decision-making, and the development of in-house expertise for sustained utilisation of digital systems.
To strengthen institutional capacity, HEC organised a certificate distribution ceremony for 86 employees who successfully completed specialised SAP S/4HANA training.
The upgraded system integrates key functions, including Financial Accounting, Funds Management, Project Systems, Procurement, Inventory and Asset Management, Materials Management, and Plant Maintenance. It also introduces automated billing and revenue management for HEC services, including the Pakistan Education & Research Network (PERN), Digital Library, and HEC Guest Houses, improving workflow efficiency, transparency, and financial oversight.
Officials said the new system will significantly enhance operational efficiency and accountability by automating core financial and administrative processes.
In the next phase, HEC plans to further operationalise SAP Human Capital Management (HCM), introduce Employee Self-Service (ESS) facilities through SAP Fiori-based portals, and enhance business planning, analytics, and management dashboards.
These initiatives reflect HEC’s commitment to building a more efficient, transparent, accountable, and digitally empowered institution, strengthening governance and service delivery across Pakistan’s higher education sector.
