FIA arrests sixth suspect in illegal kidney transplant case
ISLAMABAD, Oct 27 (APP):The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Anti-Corruption Circle Islamabad has arrested a sixth suspect in an illegal kidney transplant case and obtained his five-day physical remand from a court for further investigation.
According to an FIA official, the accused, identified as Muhammad Sohaib, owner of Ateeq Pharmacy at Haideri Chowk, Saidpur Road, Rawalpindi, was arrested during an investigation into case No. 60/2026.
The official said the suspect had allegedly been supplying medicines and surgical equipment to a gang involved in illegal kidney transplants at residential premises since 2021.
He said the accused was allegedly aware that the gang members were neither qualified doctors nor authorised medical practitioners but continued providing them with medicines and surgical supplies.
During the investigation, FIA officials obtained WhatsApp chats, voice notes and bank receipts as evidence of the suspect’s alleged involvement in the illegal activities.
Meanwhile, the court also extended the physical remand of four previously arrested suspects by another two days. The four suspects have so far completed 13 days of physical remand, according to the official.
The FIA Anti-Corruption Circle Islamabad is continuing its investigation to identify other individuals allegedly involved in the illegal kidney transplant network, while further arrests are expected.
