CDA chief reviews progress on Kashmir Chowk underpass
ISLAMABAD, Oct 28 (APP): Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Sohail Ashraf on Wednesday reviewed the construction progress of the Kashmir Chowk underpass and directed the project team to ensure its timely completion without compromising on quality, safety and engineering standards.
During his visit to the site, the chairman inspected ongoing civil and structural works and directed the concerned officials to maintain the pace of construction through effective resource management and regular monitoring.
He emphasised that all work must be carried out in accordance with approved engineering designs and technical specifications, adding that construction quality, durability and timely completion were equally important.
The project, whose foundation stone was laid by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, aims to ease traffic congestion at one of Islamabad’s key intersections and improve connectivity between Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
The CDA said construction had continued at an encouraging pace despite a two-day disruption caused by rain.
Sohail Ashraf directed the project team to pay particular attention to construction safety, traffic management and public convenience to minimise difficulties for commuters during the execution of work.
The authority expects the underpass to improve traffic flow, reduce congestion and travel time, and facilitate thousands of daily commuters travelling between the twin cities.
The chairman said the CDA would continue to monitor construction closely to ensure the project was completed within the stipulated timeframe and delivered the intended benefits to residents.
