IHC reserves verdict on plea by AJK-domiciled lawyer seeking to sit civil judge recruitment exam

IHC unhappy with excise office over delay in citizen’s car registration
ISLAMABAD, Oct 29 (APP): The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday reserved its decision on a petition filed by a lawyer who holds a domicile of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), challenging her exclusion from the examination for recruitment of civil judges in Islamabad.
Justice Ayaz Shaukat heard the petition of petitioner Zaufshan Siddiqui, during which the lawyer requested permission to participate in the recruitment examination.
The judge observed that the petition had become ineffective as the final paper was scheduled for October 30. He noted that the examination had commenced on October 23 and that the petitioner’s reply had been submitted on October 20.
The court observed that the petitioner should have filed an application before the commencement of the examination.
The counsel requested the court to direct the authorities not to bar the petitioner from participating in any future examination. The judge observed that she could file a fresh petition when the next examination was announced.
When the counsel informed the court that another petition of a similar nature was also pending, the judge observed that it too had become ineffective.
