ISLAMABAD, Oct 29 (APP):Advisor to the Prime Minister on Political and Public Affairs Rana Sanaullah told the Senate on Thursday that no grievance could justify the use of objectionable language against the state, emphasising that personal differences must not be placed above the collective interests of the country and the nation.
Responding to points raised by Senators Kamran Murtaza and Ali Zafar, he said he had great respect for Maulana Fazlur Rehman and the senator, but certain limits should be observed.
He said remarks about the state and martyrs hurt people’s feelings and were unacceptable.
Regarding Ali Zafar’s concerns about jail conditions, Sanaullah said the objections had already been presented in detail before the Supreme Court. The court had asked a senior lawyer to visit the jail as a “friend of the court” and report on the conditions there.
The report on facilities and food, he said, did not differ from the one submitted by the jail authorities.
Rana Sanaullah said matters concerning a person in judicial custody should be pursued through the courts.
He said Noreen Niazi, sister of PTI founder, was in jail over allegations of trying to create unrest and mobilise people for a long march on Islamabad.
He said she had been shifted to hospital promptly after a health complaint and her test results were normal.
He said he would check whether her relatives had been denied permission to meet her.
