KP CS orders quality, verifiable polio campaigns across province
ABBOTTABAD, Oct 30 (APP):Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad Hameedullah Khan on Friday inaugurated the national anti-polio campaign by administering polio drops to children under five years of age, with a target of vaccinating 217,917 children across the district.
A total of 1,685 polio teams have been constituted across 54 union councils to ensure door-to-door vaccination. These include 1,570 mobile teams, 65 fixed teams, 50 transit teams and five roaming teams. The campaign will be supervised by 54 Union Council Medical Officers (UCMOs) and 364 area in-charges, while 32 district polio monitoring teams have also been deployed.
Later, chairing a meeting to review campaign arrangements and progress, the deputy commissioner was briefed on field teams’ performance, vaccination coverage and monitoring arrangements.
The district health officer, health department officials, district coordinators and additional assistant commissioner attended the meeting.
Hameedullah Khan directed officials to ensure that every child under five receives polio drops and that all available resources are utilized to achieve 100 percent coverage. He instructed field supervisors to identify missed children, address parents’ concerns and ensure immediate vaccination of children left uncovered.
He also directed daily monitoring of campaign performance and urged parents to cooperate with vaccination teams by ensuring that all children under five receive polio drops.
