LAHORE, Oct 30 (APP): An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Friday acquitted a man, Abdullah, in a case involving the alleged recovery of explosive material, observing that the prosecution’s case was riddled with doubts and the evidence against him was insufficient.
ATC Judge Shahid Sikandar announced the verdict after extending the benefit of doubt to the accused, ruling that the prosecution had failed to establish its case beyond a reasonable doubt.
The accused was brought from jail to the court for the announcement of the verdict. Advocates Ghalib Shamsi and Salma Iqbal appeared on his behalf.
The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), Lahore, had registered the case against Abdullah in 2025, alleging that he was affiliated with a proscribed organisation and that explosive material had been recovered from his possession. The prosecution had also accused him of involvement in terrorist activities.
However, the defence maintained that Abdullah had no links with any proscribed organisation and that no explosive material had been recovered from him.
