FDA seals 27 properties over law violations

FDA laboratory generates Rs.1m through 400 tests of building and road construction material
FAISALABAD, Oct 29 (APP): The Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) initiated a vigorous operation against illegal commercialization and sealed 27 properties in Allama Iqbal Colony over violation of building and zoning regulations.
An FDA spokesman said here on Thursday that on the directives of Director General FDA Muhammad Asif Chaudhry, the FDA Enforcement Team sealed 16 properties where residential plots were being used for commercial purposes without approval and 11 properties found involved in violation of building and zoning regulations.
The action was taken against the properties whose owners had been issued repeatedly notices and challans identifying the violations. However, despite these warnings, the owners failed to comply with official orders.
Therefore, under the supervision of Director Town Planning-I Afnan Saeed Sandhu, the FDA Enforcement Team, comprising Assistant Enforcement Officer Aslam Gujjar, Building Inspector Rizwan Butt and other staff members, carried out the operation and sealed the aforementioned properties.
On the occasion, the owners concerned were directed to obtain formal commercialization approval from the FDA before using residential properties for commercial purposes and to pay the prescribed dues in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations.
Similarly, the owners found violating building laws were instructed to obtain approval of their building plans and ensure that the construction and use of their buildings strictly conform to the approved building plans and relevant regulations. Failure to comply will result in further legal action, he added.
Meanwhile, Director General FDA Muhammad Asif Chaudhry emphasized that ensuring planned urban development, construction discipline and compliance with rules and regulations in urban areas are among the FDA’s foremost priorities.
He stated that action against illegal commercialization and construction-related irregularities would continue without discrimination, and no one would be allowed to violate the law.
The relevant officers have been directed to keep the enforcement staff active, closely monitor violations and take immediate action against any breach of the law.
The DG FDA urged citizens to ensure compliance with all relevant approvals and legal requirements before constructing, extending or using properties for commercial purposes.
He emphasized that public cooperation is essential for better urban planning, orderly development and the supremacy of law.
He therefore advised citizens to comply with the FDA’s prescribed rules and regulations to avoid unnecessary legal complications and financial losses.
