Nosherwan Khalil sworn in as RCCI President, newly elected body also takes oath
RAWALPINDI, Oct 01 (APP): The oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected office-bearers and Executive Body of the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) for the 2026–2028 term was held at a local hotel in Rawalpindi, with Nosherwan Khalil Khan assuming office as President, Waseem Aslam as Senior Vice President and Ikram-ur-Rehman Abbasi as Vice President.
RCCI Group Leader and former President Sohail Altaf administered the oath to the newly elected office-bearers and Executive Members and congratulated them on their election. He also appreciated the efforts and services of the outgoing team, saying the RCCI played an important role in representing the interests of the business community.
Sohail Altaf expressed confidence that the new leadership would continue to strengthen the Chamber as an effective platform for promoting business and economic development. He emphasized the importance of maintaining strong engagement between the business community and relevant government institutions.
Speaking on the occasion, RCCI President Nosherwan Khalil Khan said addressing the challenges facing the business community would remain a key priority of his tenure. He pointed to the high cost of production, export competitiveness, industrial policy, taxation and compliance-related issues among the areas requiring focused attention.
He also called for the development of economic and industrial zones along the Rawalpindi Ring Road, while raising concerns over what he described as harassment faced by businesses from tax authorities and government departments.
Nosherwan said the RCCI would pursue constructive engagement with government institutions to develop practical solutions to the issues confronting businesses. He reaffirmed the Chamber’s commitment to advocating policies aimed at facilitating investment, promoting industrial growth, enhancing exports and creating a more conducive business environment.
The newly elected leadership also pledged to work collectively with Chamber members, trade bodies and relevant government institutions to advance the interests of the business community and contribute to sustainable economic growth.
Former RCCI presidents, representatives of various trade associations, Executive Members and a large number of Chamber members attended the ceremony.
