TEHRAN, Oct 21 (APP): The Embassy of Pakistan in Tehran organized a cultural exhibition titled “Pakistan Through Ages” at the ECO Cultural Institute (ECI) on Tuesday, highlighting Pakistan’s rich historical and cultural heritage and its enduring connections with regional civilizations.
The event was attended by a large number of guests from diverse walks of life and featured artifacts representing different civilizations that flourished in the territory of present-day Pakistan, along with a documentary showcasing the country’s historical legacy, according to a press statement issued by the embassy of Pakistan in Tehran on Wednesday.
Welcoming the guests, ECO Cultural Institute President Mr. Hassan emphasized the role of culture in bringing nations closer together. He noted that cultural similarities reflect the shared origins and interconnected evolution of civilizations.
Addressing the gathering, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iran, Imran Ahmed Siddiqui, traced the country’s history back thousands of years to Mehrgarh in Balochistan, where early communities domesticated plants and animals, developed tools and established settled societies.
He stressed that civilizations evolve through interaction and exchange rather than in isolation, highlighting the role of neighboring communities, travelers and ideas from distant lands in shaping societies. He also underscored the importance of languages, art, literature and other forms of expression in connecting nations and fostering mutual understanding.
Anoushiravan Mohseni-Bandpey, Deputy Minister of Tourism at Iran’s Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts, appreciated the efforts of the Pakistani Embassy and the ECI in organizing the exhibition and screening the documentary.
He said such initiatives would help introduce Pakistan’s history, culture and heritage to the Iranian public. He also highlighted the longstanding cultural, historical, religious and linguistic ties between Pakistan and Iran, emphasizing the need for greater interaction and cultural engagement to strengthen mutual understanding.
The deputy minister and the ambassador jointly inaugurated the exhibition. Guests subsequently viewed the documentary and explored the displayed artifacts, gaining insights into Pakistan’s diverse historical heritage and its contribution to the region’s shared cultural legacy.
The exhibition underscored the importance of cultural diplomacy in strengthening Pakistan-Iran relations and promoting continued exchanges, dialogue and people-to-people contacts between the two neighboring countries.
