PHC maintains interim protection from arrest for CM, 27 PTI leaders
PESHAWAR, Oct 09 (APP):The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Friday maintained its earlier order restraining the arrest of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and 27 other Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders and referred their joint bail applications to a division bench for further proceedings.
The court fixed October 20, 2026, for the next hearing of the applications filed by the 28 PTI leaders seeking protection from arrest in cases related to the May 9 incidents.
Earlier, the court had constituted a three-member larger bench headed by Justice Ijaz Anwar to hear the matter and directed the applicants to appear in person.
In the latest proceedings, the court transferred the joint bail applications to a division bench while maintaining its earlier order against the arrest of the applicants.
The interim relief will remain in place for now, while the court is yet to decide the bail applications on merit.
The division bench will take up the matter at the next hearing and proceed with further legal proceedings.
