Punjab Health Minister reviews facilities at Sahiwal Cardiology Institute
Chichawatni, Oct 14 (APP):Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique, accompanied by Health Secretary Azmat Mahmood and Sahiwal Commissioner Dr. Asif Tufail, visited the Sahiwal Institute of Cardiology on Wednesday to review medical facilities.
The delegation was informed that the institute had performed over 276 cardiac surgeries, including 261 bypass operations, and conducted 2,660 angiographies and 1,119 angioplasties. It had also provided outpatient care to 68,976 patients and emergency services to 18,412 patients.
The minister also inspected proposed sites for a cancer treatment centre at Sahiwal Teaching Hospital and Haji Abdul Qayyum Hospital.
He said a modern cancer hospital would be established in Sahiwal under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision to provide treatment facilities to patients from the city and adjoining districts.
Health Secretary Azmat Mahmood said the facility would spare patients the cost and inconvenience of travelling to major cities for treatment.
