SHANGLA, Oct 29 (APP):Local growers of persimmon have demanded of government practical measures to increase production of the fruit, protection from diseases and provision of modern agricultural tools to boost production.
They said that support from the government would increase production besides opening new vistas of market exploration and export of delicious fruit to international markets.
They said that District Shangla is considered suitable region for production of different types of fruits due to its cold weather, green hilly slopes and natural environment. The appropriate support would not only increase production level but it would also help to augment financial position of growers, labors and transporters.
Growers said that if they are made aware of modern cultivation methods by agriculture department and guidance is provided regarding effective spray for protection of gardens, timely diagnosis of diseases, use of quality plants and fertilizers, then further improvement in production and quality of persimmon would be increased. Growers also stressed need to improve marketing and delivery system of the fruit.
