FGP CEO calls for greater investment in teachers on World Teachers’ Day
ISLAMABAD, Oct 05 (APP):Freedom Gate Prosperity (FGP) Founder and Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Anwar on Monday paid tribute to teachers across Pakistan, highlighting their vital role in shaping young minds, strengthening communities and building the country’s future.
Talking to APP on the occasion of World Teachers’ Day, he said teaching was not merely a profession but a responsibility that shaped the foundations of every other profession and contributed to the development of society.
“Every doctor, engineer, entrepreneur, civil servant and professional begins his or her journey with a teacher,” he said, adding that teachers, particularly those serving low-income and underserved communities, often performed their duties with limited resources, inadequate professional support and financial pressures.
Muhammad Anwar said recognition of teachers should go beyond words of appreciation, stressing the need for fair and competitive remuneration, professional dignity and opportunities for career growth.
“A teacher in a classroom should be able to focus on the learning and future of students rather than constantly worrying about meeting basic household expenses,” he said.
He observed that teachers played a role far beyond delivering curricula, as they influenced how young people think, question, create and contribute to society.
“If we expect teachers to prepare our children for the future, we must also give teachers the respect, remuneration and opportunities they deserve,” he added.
FGP CEO said the teaching profession was also evolving rapidly with digitalisation, artificial intelligence and emerging technologies transforming the ways people learned and worked.
He stressed the need to provide teachers with continuous opportunities to enhance their skills in digital learning, responsible use of artificial intelligence, modern teaching methodologies and skills-based education.
However, he said technology should support teachers rather than replace them, as digital tools and artificial intelligence could expand learning opportunities and improve access to knowledge, but education remained fundamentally a human process.
“A capable and motivated teacher understands the individual student, the classroom and the community in ways that technology alone cannot,” he remarked.
Muhammad Anwar called upon government institutions, educational organisations, the private sector, civil society and development partners to invest not only in school infrastructure and technology but also in the people who make education possible.
He emphasised the importance of better teacher training, competitive remuneration, professional recognition and supportive working conditions.
“When we empower a teacher, we empower generations,” the FGP CEO said.
