ICT admin expands plastic-free drive: crackdown on single-use plastic bottles to begin tomorrow
ISLAMABAD, Oct 12 (APP): The Islamabad district administration has decided to expand the Plastic-Free Islamabad campaign by launching a crackdown on single-use plastic bottles from tomorrow, adding to the ongoing action against polythene bags.
The administration said the campaign prohibits the use of both single-use plastic bags and bottles.
The district administration said indiscriminate action against the use of plastic bottles would begin across Islamabad tomorrow as part of efforts to enforce the plastic-free campaign.
Officials are already conducting daily operations to ensure compliance with the campaign. With the expansion of the drive, enforcement teams will take action against violations involving the use and sale of single-use plastic bottles.
The administration said the campaign aims to stop the use of prohibited plastic items and address plastic pollution in the federal capital. The crackdown will cover violations related to both the use and sale of single-use plastic bottles, while action against polythene bags will continue.
The district administration has called on citizens and traders to cooperate with the Plastic-Free Islamabad campaign and comply with the restrictions on prohibited plastic products.
It also urged residents to avoid using banned items and play their part in reducing plastic pollution in the city.
The administration said daily enforcement operations would continue to ensure implementation of the campaign, with the crackdown on single-use plastic bottles marking the next phase of the drive.
The campaign seeks to enforce the ban on single-use plastic bags and bottles across Islamabad, with the district administration stressing the need for public and business community cooperation to achieve its objectives.
