Kashmir Chowk closed to traffic until further orders, ITP announces alternative routes
ISLAMABAD, Oct 25 (APP):Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has announced the closure of Kashmir Chowk to traffic from Sunday until further orders due to construction work on the Kashmir Chowk underpass, advising motorists to use alternative routes to avoid inconvenience.
According to ITP, traffic diversions have been introduced to facilitate motorists travelling towards Bhara Kahu, Rawal Dam Chowk and other areas of the federal capital.
Motorists travelling from Rawal Dam towards Bhara Kahu have been advised to use the loop connecting to Srinagar Highway, take a U-turn at Margalla Mor and continue towards Bhara Kahu.
Similarly, traffic coming from Aabpara towards Kashmir Chowk can proceed along Srinagar Highway towards Korang Wala Chowk and take the Naval U-turn to return towards Rawal Dam Chowk.
Commuters travelling from the Red Zone, Serena Hotel and Aabpara towards Rawal Dam Chowk can use the France Turn loop near the SP City Office to access Srinagar Highway.
The ITP advised citizens to allow an additional 20 to 25 minutes for their journeys as traffic flow could be affected due to the diversions.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Islamabad said traffic police personnel would remain deployed at key points to guide motorists and ensure smooth traffic movement.
He said regular traffic updates would be broadcast on ITP FM 92.4, while citizens could also follow Islamabad Police’s official social media pages for the latest information.
The CTO kinat said ensuring safe and convenient travel for citizens remained the top priority of Islamabad Traffic Police.
