NCCIA raids 16 call centres in Islamabad, arrests 671, seizes 13,000 devices

NCCIA nabs suspect over objectionable material involving children
ISLAMABAD, Oct 24 (APP):The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Islamabad has arrested 671 suspects, including 473 foreign nationals and 198 Pakistanis, during raids on 16 call centres as part of a major crackdown against cybercrime.
Additional Director NCCIA Islamabad Shoaib Khan disclosed this during a press conference, saying that around 13,000 electronic devices had also been seized during the operations.
He said the forensic examination of the seized devices was underway to identify the types of fraud committed by the suspects, the locations from where they operated and their possible links with individuals and networks within Pakistan and abroad.
Shoaib said the forensic analysis would also help investigators trace communication records, identify potential victims and determine how the suspects carried out fraudulent activities.
He said the operations were conducted against call centres allegedly involved in cybercrime activities.
The Additional Director said the agency was continuing its efforts to curb cybercrime and take action against those involved in illegal activities.
