Pharmacists to undergo strict licence checks
ISLAMABAD, Oct 26 (APP):The Pharmacy Services and Drug Control (PS&DC) department of Islamabad Capital Territorry (ICT) has directed pharmacists and other qualified persons applying for drug sale licences to disclose their existing and previous professional engagements across Pakistan.
The body warned that strict legal action will be taken on submitting false declarations or concealment of information, official sources said.
According to an advisory issued by PS&DC, applicants seeking drug sale licences in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) must truthfully disclose any existing or previous professional engagements linked to drug sale licences issued anywhere in the country.
The department said it would verify the information provided by applicants through cross-checking records with relevant drug regulatory authorities and Pharmacy Councils.
It warned that concealment of information, misrepresentation, false declarations or unlawful multiple professional engagements could lead to legal and regulatory action under applicable laws.
Possible consequences include rejection of applications, cancellation of licences where warranted and referral of cases to the relevant Pharmacy Council for disciplinary proceedings.
The department also advised drug sale licence holders and proprietors to conduct due diligence before submitting applications to ensure compliance with legal and professional requirements.
PS&DC emphasized that transparency and professional accountability were mandatory and that violations would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
