PM’s vision transforming agriculture: Wajiha Qamar

ISLAMABAD, Oct 16 (APP):Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training, Ms. Wajiha Qamar, on Friday said that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan is making significant progress towards agricultural modernization through advanced training and technological innovation.

Addressing the departure ceremony of the final cohort under the Prime Minister’s Initiative for Short-Term Training of 1,000 Pakistani Agricultural Professionals in China, the Minister said the flagship programme reflects the Prime Minister’s commitment to strengthening human capital, enhancing agricultural productivity and ensuring sustainable food security.

She highlighted that 885 Pakistani agricultural professionals have already successfully completed their training at five Chinese institutions, describing it as a significant milestone in the implementation of the Prime Minister’s initiative.

She emphasized that Pakistan’s agricultural sector faces challenges including climate change, water scarcity, low productivity and limited access to modern technologies.

She said the initiative would help equip professionals with advanced knowledge and practical expertise to address these challenges effectively.

The Minister noted that Pakistan-China cooperation in agricultural education, scientific research, innovation and technology transfer would further strengthen the longstanding strategic partnership between the two countries.

Appreciating the efforts of HEC, particularly its Executive Director, the Ministry of National Food Security and Research, the Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing and Chinese partner institutions, she acknowledged their contributions towards the successful implementation of the programme.

She also appreciated the special arrangements made for candidates from Sindh through a training course at Sindh Agriculture University, Tandojam, in accordance with the Prime Minister’s directives.

Ms. Wajiha Qamar urged the departing professionals to make full use of the training opportunity and, upon their return, share their expertise with fellow professionals, support farmers and promote modern agricultural practices across Pakistan.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment, she said that under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s dynamic leadership, investment in skilled human resources, international partnerships and technological advancement remains central to building a prosperous, self-reliant and economically resilient Pakistan.

The Minister expressed confidence that the initiative would contribute to agricultural transformation, strengthen national food security and further deepen Pakistan-China friendship.
