Wildlife enforcement raid conducted at bird dealers’ shops in Charsadda
PESHAWAR, Oct 02 (APP):A wildlife enforcement raid was conducted at a bird dealer’s shop in Charsadda to check for illegal possession, sale, and trade of wild birds.
The activity was conducted by DFO Wildlife Peshawar, Mrs Manahil Wahab, along with SDWO and RO at Charsadda Sub- Division.
In accordance with Wildlife Protection Laws and Regulations, fines were imposed on various bird dealer shops and different species were compounded accordingly.
Following the raid, a field visit was also conducted to Shakoor Mehra Jat and Behram Dherii to assess the local wildlife situation and monitor illegal trapping of falcons.
The concerned areas were inspected, and necessary instructions were provided to staff regarding wildlife protection and prevention of illegal activities, under the Wildlife and Biodiversity Act 2015.
The DFO checked the staff at motorway Peshawar toll plaza and directed them to be active, showing zero tolerance for illegal smuggling of any wild birds across the province.
Such field operations are part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal wildlife trade and ensure the effective protection and conservation of wild bird species, under the Wildlife and Biodiversity Act 2015.
