LHC orders meeting between Noreen Niazi and her two daughters in jail

LHC upholds office objection to petition against blocking overseas Pakistani’s passport

LAHORE, Nov 02 (APP): The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday directed authorities to arrange a meeting between Noreen Niazi and her two daughters at the jail at 10am on Tuesday (November 3).
Justice Abher Gul Khan passed the order while hearing a petition filed by Sakina and Shahraiz challenging the extension of detention orders against the sisters of PTI founder.
The court directed that the two daughters be allowed to meet their mother for one hour. It asked their counsel to submit an application to the Lahore deputy commissioner, who was directed to arrange the meeting on Tuesday in response to the request.
The court also summoned the Lahore deputy commissioner in person on November 4 to explain the extensions in the detention orders of Noreen Niazi and Uzma Khan.
Meanwhile, the hearing on a challenge to the extension of Aleema Khan’s detention was adjourned until next week.
On the court’s direction, the home secretary submitted a report. A counsel representing the Punjab government informed the court that Noreen Niazi had been taken to hospital for medical treatment and was subsequently shifted back to jail on doctors’ advice.
The government counsel further submitted that Noreen Niazi had already been allowed to meet her daughter Hajra Niazi on October 29 during her hospital stay.
