Nine arrested, 10 cases registered over fake number plates
SIALKOT, Oct 17 (APP):Sialkot Police, in collaboration with Safe City and Traffic Police, intensified a crackdown on vehicles and motorcycles displaying fake, cloned, tampered or non-standard number plates, as well as those without registration plates.
The operation was being carried out under the supervision of District Police Officer Captain (Retd.) Dost Muhammad.
According to a police spokesperson, the ongoing crackdown resulted in the registration of 10 cases, the impounding of motorcycles and the arrest of nine individuals.
Of the cases registered, four were lodged at Kotwali Police Station, three at Neikapura, two at Rangpura and one at Badiana.
The violations included displaying incomplete registration numbers, concealing digits with tape, using non-standard number plates and riding motorcycles without number plates.
The spokesperson said such violations could hinder vehicle identification and investigations into criminal activities. The crackdown aims to curb crime, protect citizens and ensure compliance with the law.
Police urged citizens to display complete and clearly visible registration numbers in the prescribed format and refrain from concealing, altering or using unauthorised number plates to avoid legal action.
