PPPW condoles loss of lives in Peshawar school roof collapse, demands impartial probe
RAWALPINDI, Oct 15 (APP): The Pakistan Peoples Party Workers (PPPW) has expressed profound grief over the tragic roof collapse at Al-Khair Education Center in Dir Colony, Peshawar, reportedly claiming the lives of 29 students and two female teachers and leaving around 50 others seriously injured.
In a statement issued here on Thursday, PPPW President Dr Safdar Ali Abbasi, former Member of the National Assembly Naheed Khan, Senior Vice Presidents Fayyaz Ali Khan and Advocate Amjad Baluch, General Secretary Kunwar Zahid, Ibrahim Khan, Farha Aslam Khan, former MPA Sajjida Meer, Hur Bukhari, Malik Mazhar, Naveed Sadiq, Rana Usman, Hashim Khan Babar and other party members extended condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
The PPPW described the loss of innocent young lives at an educational institution as a devastating tragedy, stressing the need for urgent action and accountability.
The party called for an impartial and time-bound investigation to determine the cause of the collapse and fix responsibility. It said the incident, following two similar tragedies in Punjab in recent months, had raised serious questions about the enforcement of building safety standards and the effectiveness of inspection mechanisms.
The PPPW urged the relevant building control authorities and departments responsible for school registration and oversight of educational institutions to ensure structural safety and hold those responsible for negligence accountable.
It also demanded immediate safety audits of public and private schools across the country and called for the closure of unsafe buildings until they met the prescribed safety standards.
The statement emphasized that protecting children’s lives was a fundamental responsibility and urged the authorities to take decisive measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.
The PPPW prayed to Almighty Allah to grant eternal peace to the departed souls, patience to the bereaved families and a speedy recovery to the injured.
