Rawalpindi Traffic Police Launches Digital Survey, Records movement of 47,896 vehicles
RAWALPINDI, Oct 16 (APP): City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi has launched a digital monitoring survey to assess compliance with traffic laws, identify violations and devise measures to curb them, recording the movement of 47,896 vehicles and motorcycles on old Airport road over an eight-hour period, with 17 percent of traffic-related violations observed during the survey.
The initiative was launched on the directives of Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi Farhan Aslam to evaluate the enforcement of traffic regulations and identify areas requiring improvement.
According to the survey data, the traffic recorded on Old Airport Road included 28,282 vehicles and 19,616 motorcycles during the eight-hour monitoring period.
The findings showed that nine percent of vehicles violated lane and line discipline, while two percent of motorcyclists were found violating the one-way traffic rule.
The survey also revealed that 94 percent of motorcyclists were wearing helmets, while seat belt usage was recorded in 91 percent of vehicles.
CTO Farhan Aslam said digital data would be collected daily in every traffic circle and sector across the city to assess compliance with traffic regulations on different roads.
He said the data-driven initiative would help authorities monitor traffic flow, identify violations and highlight problems faced by commuters, enabling them to take targeted and effective measures.
The CTO said the primary objective of the digital survey was to evaluate the actual state of traffic law compliance on the ground and formulate appropriate strategies based on the findings.
He added that the initiative would help improve road safety, facilitate smoother journeys, reduce travel time and prevent traffic road accidents, ultimately ensuring safer and more efficient travel for citizens
