Governor for ensuring food, elimination of hunger
KARACHI, Oct 16 (APP): Governor Sindh Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi, in his message on World Food Day, emphasized that ensuring access to affordable, safe and nutritious food for every citizen is a shared responsibility.
He stressed that eliminating hunger and malnutrition in Pakistan must remain a national priority so that everyone has equal opportunities to lead a healthy life.
The Governor highlighted that rising inflation has made it particularly important to safeguard the nutritional needs of low-income families. He underscored the need for coordinated and effective measures to ensure that vulnerable segments of society have access to quality food.
Nehal Hashmi noted that addressing challenges such as climate change, water scarcity and rising agricultural costs is essential to achieving food security. He explained that agricultural production can be significantly increased by providing farmers with modern agricultural technologies, improved irrigation facilities and other essential resources.
Emphasizing the importance of preventing food waste, the Governor stated that the prudent use of available resources has become an urgent necessity. He added that ensuring access to balanced and nutritious diets is particularly important to prevent malnutrition among children and women.
He further stressed that promoting sustainable agriculture across Sindh and the rest of Pakistan is vital to strengthening food security. He called upon the government, private sector and welfare organizations to work together to ensure that food reaches deserving and underprivileged families.
Governor Nehal Hashmi concluded that practical efforts at both individual and collective levels are essential to building a hunger-free and healthy society.
He expressed confidence that such initiatives would help Pakistan move towards food self-sufficiency and sustainable development.
