SZABIST Larkana students plant 3,000 saplings across Larkana under community service initiative
LARKANA, Oct 05 (APP): Students of SZABIST University Larkana Campus have successfully completed a large-scale Tree Plantation Drive on Monday, with the campaign theme “Plant Today, Protect Tomorrow.” Planting approximately 3,000 saplings at various locations across Larkana as part of their Community Service Project and commitment to environmental sustainability.
The plantation campaign was organized to promote environmental awareness, increase green spaces, contribute to biodiversity conservation, and encourage students and local communities to take practical action for a healthier and greener future.
Students planted saplings across a wide range of community locations, including public parks, schools, residential colonies, villages, the Arts Council Larkana, and the university campus. The initiative enabled students to engage directly with communities while developing a sense of social responsibility, teamwork, leadership, and environmental stewardship.
SZABIST students, faculty members, community representatives, and local stakeholders actively participated in the plantation activities. Students not only planted trees but also raised awareness regarding the importance of protecting plants, maintaining green spaces, conserving natural resources, and addressing environmental challenges.
The initiative is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 13 – Climate Action and SDG 15 – Life on Land, emphasizing the importance of environmental protection, sustainable communities, and ecosystem conservation.
Speaking about the initiative, the university administration appreciated the efforts of the students and faculty involved in the campaign and highlighted that community service provides students with an opportunity to transform classroom learning into meaningful action.
The plantation drive also reflects SZABIST University’s commitment to developing socially responsible graduates who actively contribute to the sustainable development of society.
With the successful plantation of 3,000 saplings across parks, schools, colonies, villages, the Arts Council, and the university, SZABIST Larkana students have demonstrated that meaningful community change can begin with a simple but powerful action: planting a tree and taking responsibility for its future.
