ISLAMABAD, Oct 20 (APP):The Pakistan National Heart Association (PANAH) organized a youth awareness session at Capital University of Science and Technology (CUST), Islamabad, to highlight the importance of front-of-pack warning labels on ultra-processed food products.
The session was held to engage university students in promoting healthier dietary choices and raising awareness about the growing prevalence and reducing the burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Pakistan.
Participants were briefed on the role of front-of-pack warning labels (FOPWL) in providing clear and easily understandable information about excessive levels of critical nutrients in ultra-processed food products, helping consumers make informed decisions.
The session also highlighted the importance of youth engagement and advocacy in promoting healthy eating habits and preventive measures to address the rising burden of NCDs.
PANAH emphasized that greater awareness of food labelling, combined with informed dietary choices, could contribute to disease prevention and support a healthier future for Pakistan.
