Aleem Khan lauds Motorway Police officials for returning Rs500,000
ISLAMABAD, Oct 20 (APP):Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan told the Senate on Tuesday that all provinces, including Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, were represented in the National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP), adding that promotions had been made against available posts.
Replying to a question by Senator Shahadat Awan, he said the department’s records showed representation from every province and region. In response to a supplementary question, he said he did not understand the claim that any province had been excluded or that the arrangement was illegal.
According to the figures presented to the House, the NHMP had 7,930 uniformed officers and officials. Of these, 3,927 belonged to Punjab, 1,396 to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 1,124 to Balochistan, 1,116 to Sindh, 150 to AJK, 113 to Islamabad and 104 to Gilgit-Baltistan.
The department also had 2,924 non-uniformed employees, including 1,229 from Punjab, 542 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 468 from Sindh, 460 from Balochistan, 98 from Islamabad, 97 from Gilgit-Baltistan and 30 from AJK.
The minister said promotions had been made in line with the total number of sanctioned posts, and officers promoted to the next rank had been placed accordingly. He added that the figures also showed the province-wise deployment of NHMP staff across the country.
