ISLAMABAD, Oct 24 (APP):Adviser to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan on Saturday chaired a meeting of the Task Force on Export and Industrial Enhancement and discussed measures for boosting exports, revitalising industrial activity and promoting sustainable economic growth.
The meeting was attended by Joint Secretary Freedoon Akram Sheikh and representatives of various industrial sectors, including leather, sports goods, cutlery, carpets and other export-oriented industries, said a news release.
During the meeting, the adviser highlighted the government’s commitment to advancing Prime Minister’s vision for economic revival through export enhancement, industrial development and stronger engagement with the private sector.
Haroon said that the establishment of the Export Enhancement Task Force was an important initiative aimed at identifying challenges faced by industries, exploring new opportunities for growth and developing practical measures to strengthen Pakistan’s export performance.
He emphasised that the government was facilitating the business community and engaging relevant stakeholders to promote industrial revival, improve competitiveness and create an enabling environment for businesses to expand their operations.
The adviser said that meaningful consultation with industry representatives was essential for developing effective and result-oriented policies.
He noted that a series of consultative meetings was being held, with further engagements planned to ensure that the concerns, recommendations and practical experiences of the business community were duly considered in the policymaking process.
Discussing the potential of export-oriented sectors, Haroon underscored the importance of promoting industries such as leather, sports goods, cutlery and carpets, which offer significant opportunities for increasing exports, generating employment and strengthening the national economy.
He invited industry representatives to submit concrete and actionable proposals addressing sector-specific challenges, improving productivity, enhancing product quality and opening up new international markets.
The adviser assured participants of the government’s full support for initiatives aimed at industrial development and export growth.
He reiterated that the government would continue working closely with the private sector to identify bottlenecks, facilitate businesses and develop policies that respond to the actual needs of industry.
Haroon reaffirmed that export growth, industrial expansion and economic revival remained key government priorities, adding that sustained collaboration between the public and private sectors would be instrumental in achieving these objectives.
