Polio vaccination drive to cover 23.9 mln children from Nov 2
ISLAMABAD, Oct 25 (APP):A sub-national polio vaccination campaign will be conducted from November 2 to 8 across 97 selected districts of the country, targeting more than 23.9 million children under five years of age.
During the campaign, frontline polio workers will go door-to-door to administer oral polio vaccine drops to children, helping protect them against the crippling disease.
According to the campaign plan, Punjab will cover 13 districts, targeting 9.278 million children, while Sindh will vaccinate 6.883 million children in 20 districts.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the campaign will cover 27 districts, targeting 4.808 million children, while Balochistan will cover 31 districts with a target of 2.217 million children.
In Islamabad, more than 447,000 children will be vaccinated, while the campaign will cover three districts in Gilgit-Baltistan, targeting 153,000 children, and two districts in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, targeting 183,000 children.
The campaign is part of Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to eradicate polio and protect children from lifelong paralysis caused by the virus.
Parents and caregivers have been urged to cooperate with vaccination teams and ensure that every child under five receives the recommended two drops of oral polio vaccine during the campaign.
Polio is a highly infectious disease that can cause permanent paralysis but is preventable through vaccination.
