CIS, NERA sign MoU to explore cooperation in advanced technology solutions
ISLAMABAD, Oct 26 (APP):COMSATS Internet Services (CIS) and NERA Telecommunications (Pakistan) (Pvt.) The MoU was signed at NERA’s country office in Islamabad by CIS Chief Operating Officer Nasir Jamal Khan and NERA Country Head Ziaad Aslam Khan in the presence of senior officials from both organisations, said a press release issued on Monday.
Under the agreement, the two organisations will explore potential business opportunities and hold discussions on providing microwave equipment and services, cybersecurity solutions and other technology-related services in Pakistan.
Headquartered in Singapore and listed on the SGX Mainboard since 1999, NERA has a diversified geographical presence across Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. CIS specializes in internet infrastructure, data centres and information technology products and services, including Virtual Private Servers (VPS), domain registration, website hosting, server colocation and rack space services, alongside internet research and development activities aimed at enhancing the internet user experience. Recognizing the potential for collaboration in advanced technology and digital solutions, the MoU formalizes the shared intention of both organizations to explore mutually beneficial opportunities.
The parties intend to explore opportunities to provide these solutions to the Pakistan Navy and other government sectors, including information technology and educational institutions in the Federal areas, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), as well as other areas of mutual interest.
The MoU covers priority areas including the Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, and embedded technology solutions. It also encompasses potential collaboration in microwave equipment and services, cybersecurity solutions, and other technology-related opportunities to be mutually explored by both parties.
The partnership builds on the respective expertise and capabilities of CIS and NERA in internet infrastructure, information technology, and integrated technology solutions. It marks a step towards exploring new avenues for collaboration and identifying opportunities to address technology requirements across government and other relevant sectors in Pakistan.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to exploring and entering into discussions and negotiations on the potential business opportunities and collaboration opportunities covered by the MoU.
