Ayaz reaffirms Pakistan’s unwavering support for Kashmiris
ISLAMABAD, Oct 26 (APP):Speaker of National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq Monday reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering political, diplomatic and moral support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), urging that a just and lasting settlement of the dispute, in accordance with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, is vital for sustainable peace and stability in South Asia.
In his message on Kashmir Black Day, observed on October 27, the Speaker said October 27, 1947, as one of the darkest days in Kashmir’s history, when Indian forces entered Srinagar and occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
He said Kashmir Black Day served as a reminder of the longstanding aspirations and legitimate demands of the Kashmiri people, who have continued their struggle for freedom, dignity and justice across generations.
Paying tribute to their courage, resilience and sacrifices, Ayaz Sadiq emphasized that the right to self-determination remained central to the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.
He called for the implementation of relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and urged the international community, particularly the United Nations, to intensify efforts towards a peaceful and just resolution in line with international obligations and the wishes of the Kashmiri people.
Expressing concern over reports of restrictions on fundamental freedoms and the human rights situation in IIOJK, the Speaker said protecting human dignity, fundamental rights and freedoms was a shared responsibility of the international community.
He stressed the need for sustained global attention to reported human rights violations in the occupied territory.
Highlighting the role of parliamentary diplomacy, Ayaz Sadiq said parliaments and elected representatives could make meaningful contributions to promoting dialogue, resolving disputes peacefully and upholding international law.
He said that sustained parliamentary and diplomatic engagement could raise international awareness of the Kashmir dispute and strengthen efforts towards a peaceful settlement.
The Speaker reiterated that Pakistan would continue to extend its political, diplomatic and moral support to the Kashmiri people in their struggle for self-determination.
He maintained that lasting peace in South Asia required a meaningful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute through dialogue and adherence to international obligations.
Calling on the international community to translate its commitments into concrete action, Ayaz Sadiq urged global stakeholders to play a constructive role in securing a just and lasting settlement.
He reaffirmed that the Parliament of Pakistan stood in complete solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir and would continue to support their legitimate aspirations for freedom and self-determination.
