ISLAMABAD, Oct 26 (APP):The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has conducted facilitator training for the One Health Zoonotic Disease Prioritization (OHZDP) process in Islamabad to strengthen coordination among human, animal and environmental health sectors.
From October 27 to 29, FAO, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) will bring together representatives from the three sectors to identify and prioritize zoonotic diseases of greatest concern in Pakistan.
The initiative aims to strengthen multisectoral collaboration and improve preparedness for health threats that can spread between animals and humans.
Experts from FAO’s Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, Dr Yin Myo Aye and Muhammad Usman Zaheer, will provide technical support to the prioritisation process.
The experts will also contribute to developing a multisectoral One Health action plan to address the identified priority diseases.
The initiative reflects the One Health approach, which recognizes that effective prevention and control of zoonotic diseases require coordinated action across human, animal and environmental health sectors.
