ISLAMABAD, Oct 26 (APP):The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP), with technical support from the World Health Organization (WHO), has launched a pharmacovigilance outreach campaign to strengthen medicine safety and encourage reporting of suspected adverse drug reactions across healthcare institutions and academic organisations.
As part of the initiative, representatives of DRAP’s National Pharmacovigilance Centre (NPC) met with the Chief Executive Officer of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Healthcare Commission (KPHCC) and the Deputy Secretary of the provincial Health Department to discuss cooperation on patient safety, pharmacovigilance and stakeholder coordination.
The campaign also included awareness sessions at Rehman Medical Institute (RMI) and Peshawar General Hospital (PGH) in Peshawar, as well as Quaid-i-Azam University in Islamabad.
Participants were introduced to VigiMobile and VigiFlow, tools designed to facilitate the reporting of suspected adverse drug reactions and support evidence-based regulatory decisions.
The sessions brought together healthcare professionals, faculty members, students and provincial stakeholders to promote awareness of medicine safety and the importance of reporting suspected adverse reactions.
DRAP said the initiative aimed to strengthen partnerships and encourage a culture of pharmacovigilance to support the safe and effective use of medicines across Pakistan.
