Govt deptts ordered to vacate ex-FATA Secretariat for Area Development Secretariat setup

Govt deptts ordered to vacate ex-FATA Secretariat for Area Development Secretariat setup
PESHAWAR, Oct 29 (APP):The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has earmarked 104 rooms in the former FATA Secretariat on Warsak Road for the proposed Area Development Secretariat (ADS), ordering the relocation of several government offices to make space for the new setup.
The building, which once housed the Governor’s Secretariat and later the FATA Secretariat, was renamed Civil Secretariat-II after the merger of the erstwhile Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Various government offices subsequently occupied the premises.
The latest move comes amid the imposition of governor’s rule in KP and an emergency in 12 designated districts, according to the report.
The provincial administration department has directed the concerned departments to complete their relocation by October 30, 2026, vacating office space in the first and second administrative blocks of Civil Secretariat-II.
Under the relocation plan, the Information Department’s 18 rooms and the Directorate General of Information and Public Relations’ 39 rooms will be shifted to the Attached Departments Complex at Tarnab on GT Road here.
The offices will occupy a building being vacated by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Highways Authority, freeing up 57 rooms for the ADS.
The Directorate General of Health Services will move its offices, currently occupying 19 rooms, to a 20-room space in the education block of Civil Secretariat-II, freeing up another 19 rooms for the new secretariat.
The Director of Livestock (Merged Districts) has also been directed to vacate a 28-room building and relocate to the directorate’s premises at Chirgano Chowk, Peshawar. The Minerals Development Department will subsequently move into the vacated building, making another 28 rooms available for the ADS.
The relocation plan will provide a total of 104 rooms for the Area Development Secretariat, with all concerned departments required to complete the process within the stipulated deadline.
