Food authority seizes, destroy 200kg spoiled fish
PESHAWAR, Oct 19 (APP):Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority (KPFSHFA) on Monday seized and destroyed 200 kilograms of spoiled fish being supplied to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from Sukkur during an operation in Swabi district.
According to the authority’s spokesperson, the fish consignment was intercepted during transportation, and the consignment was found unfit for human consumption due to violations of the cold chain and prescribed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Legal proceedings have been initiated against those responsible for the violation, the spokesperson said, adding that strict action would be taken against elements involved in endangering public health.
The spokesperson stated that ensuring the availability of safe and wholesome food to citizens is the authority’s top priority, and operations against adulteration and unhygienic food supply would continue without discrimination across the province.
The authority has also intensified its awareness campaign, urging traders and transporters to strictly comply with food safety regulations and maintain proper cold chain arrangements during transportation of perishable items.
Citizens have been encouraged to report any food safety concerns through the authority’s complaint helpline, contributing to a collective effort for a healthier and safer food environment in the province.
