Polio vaccination drive to cover 23.9mln children from Nov 2
ISLAMABAD, Oct 19 (APP):A sub-national polio vaccination campaign will be conducted in 97 selected districts across Pakistan from November 2 to 8, targeting more than 23.9 million children under five years of age, the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) said.
During the week-long campaign, frontline polio workers will visit households to administer two drops of the polio vaccine to every eligible child, ensuring maximum coverage and protection against the crippling disease.
According to the campaign plan, more than 9.278 million children will be vaccinated in 13 selected districts of Punjab, while over 6.883 million children will receive polio drops in 20 districts of Sindh.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the campaign will target more than 4.808 million children across 27 selected districts, while over 2.217 million children will be vaccinated in 31 districts of Balochistan.
The campaign will also cover more than 447,000 children in Islamabad, over 153,000 children in three selected districts of Gilgit-Baltistan, and more than 183,000 children in two districts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The NEOC emphasized that protecting children from polio was a shared national responsibility and urged parents to cooperate fully with vaccination teams.
Parents were advised to ensure that every child under five years of age received polio drops during the campaign to help protect children and advance efforts towards the complete eradication of polio from Pakistan.
