ISLAMABAD, Oct 20 (APP):The Consulate General of Pakistan in New York, in collaboration with the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), organized a webinar on the PASBAN Remittance Reward Scheme to raise awareness among the Pakistani-American community about the scheme and the benefits of sending remittances through formal banking channels.
In his welcome remarks, Consul General of Pakistan in New York, Mr. Aamer Ahmed Atozai, highlighted the significant contribution of overseas Pakistanis to Pakistan’s economic development. He noted that remittances support household incomes, contribute to foreign exchange reserves, and strengthen the country’s overall economic stability.
The Consul General emphasized the importance of facilitating remittances through accessible, secure, efficient, and reliable formal channels. He observed that initiatives such as the PASBAN Remittance Reward Scheme can help encourage the use of regulated banking channels while enabling overseas Pakistanis to better understand and benefit from available incentives.
The webinar featured contributions from representatives of the State Bank of Pakistan, the Pakistan Banks Association, and commercial banking institutions. The discussion focused on the scheme’s objectives, its potential benefits for overseas Pakistanis, and the importance of strengthening awareness and engagement with the Pakistani diaspora.
An interactive question-and-answer session provided participants with an opportunity to seek clarification, raise queries, and engage directly with the panelists on the scheme and its practical benefits. The active participation reflected the community’s interest in learning more about formal remittance channels and available incentives.
The Consul General appreciated the State Bank of Pakistan, the banking sector, and the distinguished panelists for their collaboration in organizing the session.
