Court sentences man to death for molesting stepdaughter, orders Rs 3.5 mln in payments

Two drug traffickers received combined 18-year imprisonment
ISLAMABAD, Oct 21 (APP):The District and Sessions Court of Islamabad on Wednesday sentenced a man to death for raping his stepdaughter over a period of one year, while her mother was absent.
The court also ordered him to pay a total of Rs 3.5 million in fines and compensation to the victim and the child born as a result of the crime.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Sohail announced the verdict after finding the accused, Iftikhar, guilty of the offence.
According to the written judgment, the court awarded Iftikhar the death penalty for the crime. It also imposed a fine of Rs 500,000 on him.
The court ordered the convict to pay Rs 1 million to the victim as compensation. In addition, he was directed to pay Rs 2 million for the care and maintenance of the child.
The court relied on forensic evidence presented during the trial. DNA testing conducted by the Punjab Forensic Science Agency provided evidence linking the accused to the crime.
According to the written judgment, the DNA profile of the child born following the assault matched that of the convict, supporting the prosecution’s case.
The case was registered at Shahzad Town Police Station in February 2025 on the complaint of the victim’s mother.
After examining the evidence, the court convicted Iftikhar and handed down the death sentence, along with the financial penalties and compensation orders.
The judgment also directed the convict to bear the financial responsibility for the child’s care and maintenance through the payment of Rs 2 million.
