Islamabad city zone police return stolen goods worth Rs585m
ISLAMABAD, Oct 16 (APP):Islamabad city zone police have recovered stolen property worth more than Rs585 million and returned it to its owners over the past month, arresting 12 suspects allegedly linked to four criminal groups.
The recovered items included vehicles, motorcycles, gold jewellery, cash and mobile phones, police spokesperson said on Friday.
The arrests, including those of two women, were made during operations by Kohsar and Aabpara police stations against suspected criminal groups and individuals involved in serious offences.
SSP Investigations Suleman Zafar told APP that the Investigation Wing was using evidence-based methods, systematic case analysis, forensic support and timely follow-up of leads to trace stolen property and investigate organised vehicle theft and robbery.
He said the teams were coordinating with specialised units, particularly the Robbery and Dacoity Unit and the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Unit, to pursue criminal cases.
“Our priority remains prompt justice, restoration of citizens’ property, and building public trust through transparent, merit-based investigation,” Zafar said, adding that operations against organised vehicle-theft and robbery networks would continue with greater intensity.
At a ceremony held at Kohsar Police Station, SP City Zone Muhammad Khurram Ashraf handed over the recovered property to its owners.
He said the recovery and return of valuables reflected the police’s investigative efforts and announced that similar ceremonies would be held every month in the City Zone.
Ashraf said action against those involved in depriving citizens of their valuables would be intensified.
When contacted SHO Aabpara Zulfiqar Ali said his team was focusing on prompt registration of first information reports, field inquiries and coordination with specialised units to address complaints and provide relief to citizens.
He said the police station had handled cases involving property disputes, theft and street crime, helping recover items or provide legal assistance to complainants.
Ali added that upgraded facilities at Aabpara Police Station had improved public dealing, dispute resolution and complaint handling.
