NCCIA cyber patrolling units fully active across Pakistan, crackdown on cybercrime intensified
ISLAMABAD, Oct 25 (APP):The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has fully activated its cyber patrolling units across Pakistan to monitor illegal activities on social media, identify offenders and take strict action against those involved in cybercrime.
Additional Director NCCIA Islamabad Muhammad Shoaib Khan said on Sunday that the cyber patrolling teams were actively monitoring social media platforms, identifying illegal content and taking steps to block accounts and links involved in unlawful activities.
He said the agency was also tracing the Internet Protocol (IP) addresses of suspicious accounts to identify and arrest individuals operating behind them.
Shoaib Khan warned that strict action was being taken against those uploading inappropriate videos, sexually harassing individuals through social media, attempting to defame others or engaging in other illegal online activities.
He said the agency was also taking action against unlawful online activities directed against the state, adding that several links had already been identified and blocked, while arrests were also being made.
The Additional Director said the NCCIA had intensified its crackdown on cybercriminals and its cyber patrolling teams were working actively to detect violations and take action under the law.
He further said the NCCIA helpline 1799 had become fully operational across Pakistan to facilitate citizens in reporting cybercrime.
Shoaib Khan said a proper complaint registration and redressal system had been established to ensure that complaints were formally recorded and forwarded to the relevant officials for necessary action.
He urged citizens to report cybercrime through the helpline, assuring them that complaints would be processed through the established system.
